chYps Hospice
Young patients or children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions receive clinical care and support by chYps home-care and hospice.
Although in most cases Hospice Care for children and young people works best in the family home, occasionally staff are encouraged to families or cares to embark on a journey to the Hospice where they can take a break from full-time care.
At the Hospice young people and the children are entertained during visits which allows the carer to relax or they can also watch the games, activities and see the occasional special visitor.
Volunteers and often patients enjoy being involved at events to raise money.
The donations help to provide care for the chYps patients with terminal illnesses at the Hospice and respite for families.
The charity operates locally and mainly in North Kent, supporting people from Gravesham, including Ebbsfleet, Gravesend, Swanscombe, Dartford, Swanley and villages in surrounding areas near Ebbsfleet International station. The Hospice is just 4 miles away from Ebbsfleet International station which has easier wheelchair access throughout the station.
Ebbsfleet International Travel Company have chosen to support chYps Hospice as they are a local charity and have provided discount vouchers for Eurostar trains tickets.
The Hospice send a group of chYps patients from Ebbsfleet International on the Eurostar to Disneyland Paris. Each year the the Rotary Club raise the money to pay for the tickets and funds for chYps patients and carers to go on a trip from the Hospice.
chYs Hospice provide respite care that provides a temporary break for families and patients in care. The often exhausting challenges faced by the family caregivers means that respite is the only opportunity to get a break from long term care.
